Convento San Francisco
The monumental colonial-style Convent of St Francis is just a few dozen metres from the Plaza Mayor. The vast Baroque complex includes catacombs containing the remains of more than 25,000 people - indeed, the site was used as a burial ground until 1808.

Huaca Pucllana
Right in the heart of the modern district of Miraflores, you'll be transported to the only truly well-preserved monument from pre-colonial times. Huaca Pucllana is the ruins of a pyramid and sacrificial altar of the Warri culture, estimated to date from around 500 BC.
